“I put up my car already for sale” Nollywood’s Power Couple: Lateef Adedimeji and Mo Bimpe on ‘Lisabi’ Challenges

Nollywood power couple Lateef Adedimeji and Mo Bimpe have opened up about the struggles they faced while producing their latest Netflix movie, ‘Lisabi’.

In an interview with City 105.1FM, the couple revealed three significant challenges they overcame to bring the film to life.

1. Financial Struggles: Lateef Put His Car Up for Sale

Lateef Adedimeji shared that the film’s budget exceeded expectations, forcing him to consider selling his car to cover costs.

“We had a particular budget for this film and we had to spend like times 5 of it. It was tough. Extremely tough. At a point, I told my wife, but eventually, we didn’t do it. I put up my car already for sale… I was able to get help from few people.” – Lateef Adedimeji

1. Last-Minute Casting Changes: Mo Bimpe Steps In

Mo Bimpe wasn’t initially cast as the lead actress but took on the role when the original actress became unavailable.

“When they came to me with ‘you have to take the female lead role,’ I was like ‘ah ah, we already have an actor for that, why are you asking me to play the role?’… I wasn’t prepared for it. For a movie like this, you have to prepare for it, and I was just there as a producer and manager.” – Mo Bimpe

1. High Production Costs: A 5 Million Naira Pool

Lateef Adedimeji cited the example of building a pool for a single scene, which cost 5 million naira.

“My director is a very creative person. We didn’t have the idea of a pool before in the film; he just came up with it, and then we had to build a pool… Just for that scene alone, just for that scene to go.” – Lateef Adedimeji
